Envisioned to inspire young women, this anthology contains 114 stories by women lawyers and others connected to the legal profession, including professors, judges, politicians, policy-makers and others who work “within one of society’s biggest tents: the law.” Readers will find stories with common threads of determination, resilience, the struggle to succeed in the face of discrimination, and the need for confidence. Other themes include winding journeys with unexpected twists, difficulties balance professional commitments with family life, the resolve to accomplish goals, and the strong desire to make justice more accessible to all. Where the writer’s first language is not English, her piece is translated into her mother tongue. My contribution, entitled “The View over Kowloon Bay” within the section on “Lessons Learned,” addresses the myth of having it all.
